Alchohol, in many opinions, is such a greater health risk by far than marijuana givin its track record with cerosis, diabeties and heart conditions of many sorts just to start off with. As a nation, we must get past stereotypes that have been generating over the years focusing on the "war on drugs" if we are to get any control over our out of control healthcare inflation.
Totally absurd...I must disagree with such a notion that marijuana destroys the brain and expedites psychosis. Here's why, first, the notion that it must be smoked is manipulating to say the least. A well regulated and cultured specimen CAN produce an extremely strong THC level, AKA cannabinoids, that can be safely baked into snacks or measured in some form to be taken orally. THC as most know, is the active molecule in marijuana and can be safely measured and analyzed to be used as medication even though over dosing is nearly impossible. The fact that MANY doctors would and actually do recommend MARIJUANA for relief from a myriad of diagnosis ranging from anxiety and pain to other treatments for diseases such as glaucoma and parkinsons. Colorado has paid a substantial amount of money already into the states tax system, if that were to be exercised nationally as Colorado is this could the way for a very good model. To start with, the ATF and DEA would be cutting the head off the snake off Mexican Drug Cartels and be able to spend what funds are available on focusing on truly damaging narcotics such as CRACK, HEROIN,METH-AMPHETAMINES etc. That said, I also feel that there is a very good possibility that the pharmaceutical lobby is butting big money in someones pockets to ,..yet again run the misinformation campaign for big pharma groups that would be likely to loose TRILLIONS, yes trillions of dollars to an immerging medical alternative to the extremely costly medications. Now if the United States Government would just legalize marijuana and tax it, regulate it, this can easily become a substance both beneficial as a drug while still having tax benefits that would be enormous to our budget and deficit crisis we now face. And last , let us remember that just because it may become legal doesn't mean you have to try it and it(IMO) would help keep it out of the hands of our nations youth.
Thanx, Eric
